Marble Polishing Insures its Timeless Beauty

The timeless beauty of marble has made it a treasured stone for centuries. Owners of such materials are proud of its aesthetic, historical and sentimental value that they want to pass these treasures to future generations. Being a favorite natural stone for home décor, marbles have to bear the brunt of everyday wear and tear, as well as picking up scratches that diminished its natural shiny and smooth surface.Marble polishing is the best option to restore the sleek look of marble. It is a must for owners to polish marbles regularly. The polishing process enhances its appearance by eliminating current scratches that results to a newly reflective finish.
The less the marble is exposed to damaging forces, the lesser it requires polishing. Here are guidelines for proper polishing of marbles.
Marble polishing is a tedious process but it can be done at home if you have the proper tools. However, professional marble polishing is still the best as this type of services is found in most metropolises.

These tools are needed for polishing marbles:(1) a wet machine for grinding/polishing/sanding;(2)four each of the 50-, 120-, 220-, 400-, 800-grit diamond polishing pads;(3) 1-inch thick white polish pad; (4)white driver pad; (5)marble paste; (6)clean towels; (7)polishing powder; (8)wet-vac; (9)stone sealer; (10)masking tape; (11) protective mask and gloves; (12) paint brushes that are solvent-resistant.

Polishing marble at home using various sizes of diamond polishing pads with a commercial grade polisher or an electric sanding machine. Follow these steps:

Step 1: To safeguard the area closed to the marble that is damaged from water exposure, use masking tape or tarping to shield any unremovable items.

Step 2: Start the procedure by removing any existing sealant or wax from the marble completely shaking a stripper.

Step 3: Apply a coating of top quality stripper to the marble surface by using a solvent-resistant paint brush. As the stripper begins to blister after a few minutes, do not let it harden; use a clean rag to brush or wipe it off. You can apply more strippers until the bottom layers and remove it in the same way.

Step 4: Begin the sanding process by attaching the coarsest grit of the diamond polishing pads to the sanding machine and covering with clean & cold water the project surface. Repeat two to four passes with the same side-to-side motion.

Step 5: Remove the rest of the wax after making a few passes with the coarser grit to thoroughly wet – dry vac the floor to cover all areas.

Step 6: Add the buffer pad to the machine as the final stage of the marble polishing; at the same time, dispense the amount of polishing powder on the surface. Small sections of the surface must be quickly buffed until the polish becomes shiny and vacuum or dust-mop it to remove any debris.

Marble polishing is a challenging job. If you feel that the task is so much more complicated, contact a professional marble polisher who will be using a simple crystallizing agent on your floor that will leave your floor looking great!
